SOME PROJECTS
All of these projects are old schoolwork. They reflect some of the many formats of writing I am capable of. Please note that they are not my most recent works.
A Critique of Shakespeare
One of my favorite types of assignments is one in which I get to think critically and present my own ideas. My assignment, to choose a statement and evaluate it, therefore excited me, and I greatly enjoyed rejecting traditional ideas of heroes' tragic flaws. This essay highlights, besides my willingness to make and defend my own ideas, my clarity in both structure and writing.
Creative NonFiction
I had a lot of freedom with this assignment; my professor cared more about organization and writing quality than which topic I chose. I wrote about my two visits to Paris. See the last page for more information on the themes I incorporated, and why.
Article Abstract
This piece is a breakdown of information of an article, which I was asked to make to demonstrate that I can process, understand, and restate information.
Analysis of Dante and Lanval
Like my criticism of Shakespeare, this writing emphasizes my own distinct insights into literature. I enjoy finding comparisons where others don't think to look, or where no comparison is immediately obvious.
Poetry
The last thing I'll include here is a collection of poetry. As with my creative nonfiction, the process and quality of writing were more important than the content, so I had fun with this assignment and wrote about everything on my mind, from a far-away friend to nail polish to my silly cousins. This shows my capability writing about a variety of topics, and my ability to use forms correctly. Again, at the end there is an explanation of changes I made to my drafts and why I made them, and the choices I made in how to convey my meaning.
