King of Kings Lutheran Church
Renton, WA
This is my home church. Besides volunteering for servant projects, I've held a number of positions there.
VBS
Every August, my church hosts a Vacation Bible School. As soon as I was old enough, I became a volunteer leader.
Crew leader, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016
Station leader, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021
Worship Team
I always participated in my church's youth group. When our band needed a piano player, I stepped up. I started playing piano in 2003 and have diligently continued to learn, through college lessons and band experience. After college, I joined my church's adult praise team as soon as they resumed meeting.
J-Rock pianist, 2013-2016
Royal Praise pianist, 20121-present
YouTube Channel
When our church decided to begin a YouTube channel, I was asked to be a writer for one of the shows, Christianity in Pop Culture. I edited videos for CPC and Philosophy Class. I was even part of the discussion where we settled on the channel name, Something About a Pie.
YouTube writer and editor, 2017-2018
Food Bank
With the upheaval of 2020, the government decided to supply food banks with truckloads of food. Our food bank drastically changed the way it was organized and required several new workers to distribute the food. I have been lifting and carrying 32.62 pound boxes while interacting with people from all walks of life.
Food distributor, June 2020-present
Mission Leadership Group
I was voted into this position so I could edit bylaws and work with coordinating groups by virtue of my skills with writing and leadership.
Vice President, January 2022-present
Rummage Sale
I was put in charge of writing announcements and organizing volunteers after two years of not holding the event. I discussed with multiple people how we were going to honor the traditions of what has always worked in the past while finding what will work best in the present and moving forward.
Lead, 2022
Concordia University Nebraska
Seward, NE
I kept busy while I was in school. I took multiple leadership roles in my clubs and extracurriculars, and found employment too.
Sigma Tau Delta, Rho Omicron chapter
Sigma Tau is an international English honors society. I love reading and writing to the extent that I became an English major, and I qualified for the honors early thanks to my AP credits, so I joined in 2017. When a position opened my second semester in the club, I was able to fill it.
Secretary for the Defense of Poetry, Spring 2018-Spring 2019
President, Fall 2019-Spring 2020
Student Senate
All campus clubs were required to send a member to Student Senate, but I joined the Senate a year before becoming a representative. This gave me experience in speaking in large meetings outside of a classroom setting.
Community Service Committee, Fall 2018-Spring 2020
Budget Committee, Spring 2020
The Sower
The Sower is Concordia's independent student newspaper. I grew as both a writer and a leader, as our staff was constantly turning over thanks to graduations.
Copy Editor, Fall 2018-Spring 2020
Chief Copy Editor, Fall 2019-Spring 2020
Co-Managing Editor, Spring 2020
Rotaract
Rotaract is a version of Rotary Club for people ages 18-30. I was a founding member of my campus' chapter. We focused on how we could serve our community by participating in established service opportunities and looking for new ways to give back.
Treasurer, Fall 2019-Spring 2020
Gathering of the Talents
Every year, Concordia invites children from the surrounding cities and states to submit art or writing, or theater, music, or dance performances. College students assist with organization, judging, feedback, and workshops.
Music Door Monitor, 2017
Writing Workshop Assistant, 2018, 2019
Creative Writing Division Chair, 2019, 2020
Plum Creek Children's Literary Festival
The festival devotes one day to children and the other to adults. On the children's day, children attend presentations by authors and illustrators, other activities to work out energy, and a play by Concordia students. On the adults' day, authors and illustrators sign books and give presentations. Student volunteers are assigned to the authors and illustrators to facilitate signing lines, guide them around campus, and introduce their presentations.
Play, 2017, 2018, 2019
Assistant, 2019
Cantamus
I organized and led weekly small group meetings for women's chorale.
Section Leader, Fall 2018-Spring 2020
Amazon Bookseller
I prepared books for sale by cleaning them and making notes on their condition. This required me to use my attention to detail and communication skills in a different context than I was used to.
Clerk, Fall 2018
Summer Jobs
Kent, WA
Excluding volunteer work, which I have done throughout my life, my other positions have been summer jobs. I enjoyed the responsibility that came with them, and hope to use the skills associated with them- organization, reliability, and time management, namely- in future careers.
